Within each debating the actual ranking probably isn't worth the keystokes, but you'll get the idea. So my more pithy prose covers the same topic but in a form closer to a tweet than the more biblical epic nature of a Grantland article.

I tend to look for local, clever names, that are "athletically ascetically pleasing". Yes, I made that phrase up. Also, please note it is not an excuse that you moved. While the New Orleans Jazz is among the best sports team names of all time, the Utah Jazz is just plain dumb. Same goes for you Laker Nation in the Land of no Lakes. In fact if you moved and didn't fix your previously questionable name, I penalize you more....yes, I am talking to you Brooklyn.

For this essay I have excluded the Cavs, since my bias would be clear and likely misconstrued.

So here goes:

The Bad

Washington Wizards - Unless you absolutely appreciate alliteration above all, this one is more dunce cap than wizards pointed hat. Better Alternative: DC House, Washington Senators, or the Capitol Fighting Squirrels (if you have ever been to DC you know exactly what I am talking about)

Brooklyn Nets - You had your chance. I like Swamp Dragons better than leaving your sports equipment name intact. Better Alternative: Brooklyn Bums, Brooklyn Nyets, or all other ideas you can come up with.

LA Lakers - I get the history and pageantry of the name, but it's still dumb. Better Alternative: Showtime of LA

Utah Jazz - As noted above, really sweet name...But I also like the 76ers name, but not for Albuquerque. Better Alternative - Salt Lake Bearzz

Memphis Grizzlies - You had your chance. I love their logo and it all kinda works for the team they have at the moment, but the bear population of Memphis will eventually sue to take their name back. Better Alternative: Memphis Sauce, Memphis Blues

Toronto Raptors - Actually a name I like, but when pressed to think about it (I am not pressed to think about things often), it's pretty dumb. But in simple terms they picked this name for the hottest movie of 1993. If that's the best way to go, then I would offer the Toronto Firm or Canadian Fugitive as Better Alternatives.

Charlotte Bobcats - Nothing says CBA like this team name and colors. Thrilled they are changing it and hopeful that Hugo the Hornet makes his triumphant return next year. It should be noted that if you are changing your name, and Michael Jordan is your owner, and you are in North Carolina (State Motto : First in Flight)....and you don't pick the North Carolina Airmen as your team name....you will never be forgiven. That name would put them in the top 1 or 2 NBA names. Done.

Fine, but uninspired

Atlanta Hawks - Yawn. Better Alternative: Atlanta First Round Exits

Sacramento Kings - Good lineage for a name....but not much to do with Sac-Town. Better Alternative - Sacramento Cows

Dallas Mavericks - Right on the fence with this name. Should like it a little more and on a different day it could slide into that top category of names. I think it might be that is has a similar feel as the Spurs, but isn't as unique or clever. Better Alterative - Dallas Cubans.

Inspired, but not fine

Indiana Pacers - I get it, but don't like it. While clever, it's just not a sports team name. Better Alternative - Indiana Farm Aid. It's not a great name, but it would really help Mellencamp's fundraising efforts.

NOLA Pelicans - Again, I get it. In a year I might really like it, but for now it just seems too much like a bird with a huge throat who eats fish....which doesn't make me think about hoops. Better Alternative - Steal the name of the local AFL team, the New Orleans Voodoo (perhaps the best sports name ever), New Orleans Sinners.

Boston Celtics - Like the Lakers, it's too entrenched to change...but this isn't a team of Irish Basketballers. If the Chicago NBA team were called the Pollocks, I don't think people would be down for that. Better Alternative Boston Tea, imagine the party possibilities.

NY Knickerbockers - History would be so different if they had gone with a different piece of clothing for a name, like the Skirts or Capris. Not a fan. Better Alternative: Manhattan Cabs, New York Luxury Tax. (I am running out of steam)

Connect the Dots, here is a professional sports team name.

These are all fine names, but being so unworthy of comment makes them, well....not worthy to comment on. I don't think I change them, the league needs some stock names to make the other ones seem interesting.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Milwaukee Bucks

LA Clippers

OKC Thunder

Should be "bad", but they totally work

Golden State Warriors - A big part of this is the "Golden State". I just love that they use the descriptive version of the region over the city or state name.

Miami Heat - The era of unorthodox names spurned the Heat and Magic, made more interesting in contrast to the Hornets and Timberwolves. Also slight intrgue with names that don't end in "s".

Orlando Magic - As we discussed in a Entertainment Chalk Talk, the Magic is kind of a dumb name...bad, but it still kinda works. Unless you have a clever name for a region that has a 4pm rainstorm every day.

See more Puppet videos on YouTube

Phoenix Suns - Unless you go with the Phoenix Strip Malls or Snowbirds, not much else defines that area better than the beating Sun. I am not shook by the Gorilla mascot either, I know the backstory and love it.

Denver Nuggets - There's gold in them there hills! On it's face a dumb name, but it works. Good local connection. Being an euphemism for a bodily waste isn't a positive, but its a testament to the enduring nature of the name that that rarely comes up (outside of my blog).

Best of the Non-Cavalier Names

Portland Trailblazers - Stumptown has another cool sports team name that isn't a stupid pun or contrived reach. Lewis and Clark couldn't have come up with a better name for this squad. Bonus points for overcoming the late 90's adaptation of the "Jailblazers".

Houston Rockets - It doesn't take a NASA scientist to get this connection. Houston does not have problem with it's name.

Detroit Pistons - This could easily be put in the Inspired but Not Fine bin, but it pounds its way up the charts lubricated by a tight connection to the local auto industry. And it begs for playful analogies.

San Antonio Spurs - Local, clever, interesting. ABA had great names. While I am always a bit underwhelmed with the logo and colors, it's still one of the NBA's best.

Chicago Bulls - Chicago trading, Bulls and Bears, in a city build on meat packing....okay, we get it. Clever, connected, cool....a simple, yet great name.

Philadelphia 76ers - When the Albuquerque 76ers moved to Philadelphia all became right in the world.

There it is, in just over 1200 words....or 10% of a standard Grantland Column. I am working up my writing endurance. You can share your thoughts below. I have demanded we add a "comment" section to the blogs, so your voice can be heard.

--dog
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:26332b7e-36a0-4ec4-a58e-458aa84156d0 DANCE PARTY/ AUDITIONS!!! http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_dance-party-auditions Thu, 01 Aug 2013 01:22:00 GMT
The Cleveland Cavaliers are throwing a party to find Northeast Ohio’s hottest hip-hop performers and most enthusiastic entertainers to be members of the 2013-14 Scream Team! The workshop includes a group warm-up/conditioning, across the floor Jazz technique, choreographed routines, a mock audition and a question/answer session at the end of each workshop. Be the first to know what the judges will be looking for in audition candidates, get advice on the best costume option, and learn what it means to be a professional dancer and all that it entails.

Again, Pre-Audition Workshops are strongly recommended as preparation for any professional dance team, but are also perfect for anyone just looking to brush up on dance technique/skills.

Dates will be announced soon. http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_can-everywhere Tue, 02 Apr 2013 15:52:00 GMT
It's hard to believe, but the season is coming to an end. With only five home games left over the next two weeks, your chance to see everyone's favorite mascot (I'm talking about myself, not Moondog) would look like it's coming to an end. But fear not, Cavs fans. Because I'm not going anywhere...actually, I'll be going everywhere. Let me explain.

Throughout the offseason, I will be making my rounds throughout Ohio. I've already booked visits to the Hunger Walk, the Vision Walk, Family Fun Night at Taft Elelmentary, and much more. I'm sure most of you reading this are wondering, "How'd they get in touch with you to have you at their event? We want you to come visit us as well!" Well here's your answer. All you have to do is e-mail me at sircc@cavs.com. As I get the millions and millions of requests that I will likely recieve, I will continue to fill my summer calendar with visits around the community (unless I'm on vacation...everyone needs a vacation in the summer). Dates are filling up fast, so e-mailing me sooner rather than later is probably a good idea.

I know Moondog has a fancy name for his summer tour (the uber-famous Moondog's 100k Challenge), and just because I don't have a name for mine, doesn't mean I'm not involved. Reach out now, and let's see if I will be able to make a stop wherever you are this summer.

<img Mascot Night http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_super-hero-mascot-night Tue, 26 Mar 2013 20:08:00 GMT
All of Cleveland is abuzz about tomorrow night's mascot night, or perhaps it's more accurate to say that my boss had a lot of questions this morning about tomorrow night's mascot night that the Q. So I thought in the interest of everyone (and to get my boss off my rear) I would post this amazing detail-packed blog post.

Game time is 7pm as we take on the hated Boston Celtics. Get year, Moondog and I open the floodgates to the Q and welcome all of our local mascot brethren to join us at one of the most fun games of the year. This year is no different, and on March 27th, Mascot Night returns!

We have invited 11 of our friends to join us, and some pretty big names will be showing up this year. Skipper and Skippy from the Lake County Captains, Muddy from the Toledo Mud Hens, Spike from the Toledo Walleye, Orbit from the Akron Aeros, Rudi from the Cleveland Gladiators, Stomper from the Lake Erie Crushers, and Pozzie from the Canton Charge are my personal favorites that we are bringing out. Lesser known personalities like Slider from the Cleveland Indians, Chomps from the Cleveland Browns, and Sully from the Lake Erie Monsters will be there too (sorry guys, I had too.) At the game, you can have the chance to catch a shirt or a ball thrown by one of us, get your pictures taken, win up to $500 in or Key Bank Deal or No Deal promotion, and hold on, it’s coming, see your favorite local mascot go up for a Superhero-like slam dunk.

Not only is it Mascot Night, but it is also the Cavs Superhero Cape Giveaway Night for kids 14 and under.  Unfortunately, the capes aren’t replicas of my cape, but they are still pretty cool.  Check out this video to see what all the buzz about the capes is about;

<object you can do at 7 pm on March 27th. What more could a kid ask for? Mascots, capes, and the Cavs. Maybe I should have pitched that tagline to the Marketing department...

21:46:00 GMT
I've heard the complaint before..."Moondog, you NEVER visit my section!" Heard it multiple times, in both ears.

First of all, in my defense....the Q is big. It takes a lot of time to be everywhere all at once. You can quote me on that.

Also in my defense, I have a lot of places I have to be. I might playing Banker in Deal or No Deal, dunking, shooting t-shirts, or flirting with a Cavalier Girl (those girls demand attention)...so sometimes I just have to be somewhere.

Finally (trying not to sound defensive here), some parts of the Q are hard to get to and still get back to the court if I am on-call for a time out.

So, visting every section is hard. Really hard. How do I know...because last night I did it. And it was a grind.

In today's Moondog Photo Set I have a photo from every section of the Q during last nights dismantling of the Charlotte Bobcats. I went to every section and got at least one shot (as proof that would stand up in most courts).

See over 120 Photos from the February 2, 2013 game at MoondogPhotos.com.

<a do.

It also debunks that it can't be done.....which might be a bad thing for me next time my boss tells me I need to be everywhere all the time. In the end, I love nothing more than getting around and interacting with as many passionate and loyal Cavalier fans as I can.

You can also shoot me your location in a tweet (just mention @cavsmoondog in the tweet) and I will do what I can to stop by....but know that it's a big building, <a Behind the Scenes at the Q http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_call-security-behind-scenes-q Fri, 01 Feb 2013 18:42:00 GMT
My boss (see below) tells me that I need to take people behind the
scenes at the Q in this blog...and who am I to not follow the
direction of my amazingly talented boss? So today I will take you
behind the scenes at the Q so you can see what I do when I am not in
front of the crowd.

The Setting
Pre-game at the Q. Full-time staff arrives a 8am and game night staff
arrive at the Q between 1pm and 4pm. This story takes place around
5pm back-stage at the arena.

The Characters
Me
Handsome dog mascot who loves to stir-up trouble and create a little
mischief, all while being handsome. I consider causing problems
before the game a little like a warm-up for the game, where I will
likely get in more trouble...sometimes just for being too handsome.

Shannon is an arena veteran, and she has been keeping me in line (or
trying to) for over 6 seasons. Despite being a strict dog
disciplinarian, she likes a good laugh. Shannon is on headset during
the games connecting me with the Game Director, giving me detailed
instructions from the Director (which I then ignore).

<a year who was hired after a global search
for the top new Game Director in Sports. We couldn't find that
person, so we went with Evan. Evan was hired when our previous
Director Amanda (see below) went on "Maternity Leave". I have no idea
what that means, but she got a 3 month vacation out of it...so I am
trying to earn one of those sabbaticals. Amanda also has two
beautiful kids. Evan is on headset during the game barking out orders
and directing our entertainment show.

<a is now a really big head honcho after 8
years of being a regular head honcho. She used to be on headset and
direct the games, until Evan arrived. Since returning from that
maternity leave, she occasionally gets back in the director's chair
and is on headset calling the games.

<a game operations staff (like Sir CC, me, Evan, Amanda and about 15
others) meet on game days around 4pm. Animal Control Shannon is not
normally at these meetings. On this day we found out that Amanda was
going to be on headset to give Evan a well-earned break.

When Shannon arrived we headed to catering to get pre-game dinner. It
was at this time my impromptu shenanigans started. I told Shannon
that Evan had been fired and that Amanda would be taking over and
calling the games. Shannon was busy choosing between a turkey hot dog
and a shrimp pasta concoction, so she just took that news in stride.

After dinner and several cookies, we returned to our lockerroom to
prep for the game. The lockerroom is huge and quite fancy (I say that
because you can't really confirm this detail and it makes me look like
a big deal). There are 3 rooms; a main area, a smaller changing area
and a bathroom. While I was in the bathroom I heard the room open and
then heard Evan's voice.

You might think this ruined my stupid lie about Evan's dismissal to
Animal Control Shannon...but you thought wrong.

I let them talk for a couple minutes, then I sent this text to Shannon.

"When I come out, go get security. Evan is not supposed to be in the
building. (I assume that is Evan's voice.)"

Then I joined them, and cooly acted slightly surprised that Evan was
there. I pointed to Shannon's phone, so she would check and see the
message. Shannon saw the message and quietly excused herself and left
the lockerroom.

If driving web traffic was my game (it is not) I would make you come
back next week to find out if Evan was arrested...but instead I will
just finish the story.

I immediately told Evan about my game and we had a good laugh thinking
of Shannon uncomfortable summoning security and explaining that the
dismissed Evan had breached the confines of the Q Arena.

Shannon had gone to Matt Miller's office to get his help with a
security detail to escort Evan out. Matt was on the phone, so Shannon
was stuck anxiously waiting outside his office. She finally asked two
other Q Arena employees (who aren't listed above, so I won't mention
their names here). She asked them if Evan had been fired and snuck in
the building. They both laughed at her. Shannon they realized she
had been had at the hands of the dog.

Later that night I amazed and delighted the packed house with a
hilarious skit, hit 3 consecutive half-court shots, and got phone
numbers from a handful of Cavalier Girls*.

So that's a look behind the scenes at a game at the Q. I hope you
enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making Animal Control Shannon look
like a knucklehead...it was a rare treat for me.

Evan remains at large. If you see him, please notify the police.

--Moondog

*parts of this story were embellished to amaze and delight readers
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:f7b030da-c60b-4f7e-afcd-2d30e3f185c7 Love is in the Q! http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_love-q Wed, 30 Jan 2013 15:45:00 GMT
Are you looking for something to do around Valentine's Day?  Would you like me to deliver a gift to someone special while dressed as cupid?  Do you love the Cavs?  If you answered yes to all of these questions, follow these easy steps;

Come to the game with your sweetheart.

Let me know where you are sitting.

I'll play Cupid and deliver a basket to your seats.

In 2 short weeks, the Cavs will be taking on the San Antonio Spurs at the Q. The game is the night before Valentine's Day, and I plan on playing cupid throughout the evening (without the dangerous bow and arrow). The game is already going to be great, but make it even more special by adding a little Valentine's flavor to your night.

- First, make sure you have tickets to the game! (http://tinyurl.com/b28e5cn)

- Second, send me your seat location. You can do this a couple of different ways. Twitter (@cavssircc), Facebook (www.facebook.com/cavs.sir.cc), or send me an e-mail (sircc@cavs.com). Once I receive your request, I'll reach back out and we can begin planning the special surprise.

- I will be putting together small gifts together, nothing over the top, to deliver on behalf of YOU! If by chance you have another gift or addition you would like to add to the gift, we have a simple process for that. All you have to do is get the additional gift down to the Q by Feb. 11th so we can make sure it is added to it. I will be taking requests for the baskets from now until Feb. 11th as well.

- The best part about all of this? It's FREE!

I can't think of a better way than to show how much you care for the special basketball fan in your life than to surprise them with an early Valentine's gift as they watch the Cavs. Let the requests start rolling in!

- C.C. <img height="274" (I assume that is Evan's voice.)"

Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:8e8f0bd8-16f9-408d-9091-80e8ccb40601 Mall Santas, Mascots and Rock Stars http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_mall-santas-mascots-rock-stars Mon, 21 Jan 2013 20:43:00 GMT
Upon the expert recommendation of my favorite teacher Gigi I read an e-book called Diary of a Mall Santa (Stewart Scott) which chronicles a month in the life of a Mall Santa. It's a sweet book full of real life ups and downs through the eyes of a jolly, yet not plump, Mall Santa.

While Mall Santas and I don't have a ton in common, there were a lot of stories from the book that really hit home for me. This excerpt in particular.

"...When I spotted the kids, I rang my jingle bells vigorously to capture their attention. They ran full speed toward me, and I dropped down on both kneeds to receive their generous hugs. The father looked on approvingly. After talking to the childrebn and telling them how happy I was to see them, I rose slowly to shake hands with their father.

"I feel like a rock star," I said.

"You ARE a rock star," he replied.

"I take this job seriously," I told the father.

When children demonstrate such amazing love for a jolly fat man in bright red suite with and oversized, scratchy beard, you better not take your responsibility lightly. When innocent children put their complete trust in a total stranger, you better not violate their faith." [From Diary of a Mall Santa - Stewart Scott]

Not to say I am a rock star, or that my beard itches, but I do feel that same responsibilty and share the same joy ol' Saint Nick of the Mall does when I meet young fans. It's awesome, powerful, and a large part of what makes being a mascot so amazing.

And, of course, I am a rock star.

When reading this I recalled this photo in particular. It was taken at the 76ers' game in Novevber. I received a tweet request to visit a seat location and take a photo with a fan's son. I remember that night downloading photos and being struck by the great smile captured in the photo...it was a fan who was having as much fun as I was at the game.

So in summary:

Mall Santas and I do indeed have some things in common (just don't call Animal Control an elf),

I actually look at the photos we take in game (and post them all at moondogphotos.com)

Gigi is an excellent book recommender

I am a rock star (of sorts)

Thanks fans....Happy Holidays.

--Moondog
Passionate. It was definitely a great way to bring excitement to Cleveland before the Cavs head off for five straight away games. The Cavalier Girls couldn't have been more proud to cheer on our team last night & hopefully you will all join us in cheering them on at the next home game on Jan 22nd vs. the Boston Celtics. We are looking forward to being back on the court & seeing you all soon!

GO CAVS!!!

Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:63d83950-32e2-4b99-b569-b304b582bada Super Fun Cavs Game!!! http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_super-fun-cavs-game Thu, 10 Jan 2013 19:53:00 GMT
Wednesday night's game versus the Hawks was a blast! During the Scream Team's pregame dance party (at gate 108) we were joined by some pretty talented and energetic dancing fans. Since we love it when the fans come and get down with us, we really had a ball! Secondly, for the first time this entire season, the Cavaliers Dunk Team, the C Town Throw Downs, graced the court! They really brought down the house with some huge acrobatic dunks that kept the fans on their feet and begging for more! As if all of this wasn't good enough, the Cavs ended the night with a solid victory and a huge lead over the Hawks! What a game and what a night to be a Cavs fan! Go Cavs!
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:b5fe9a6f-fd7d-4d2d-8c78-b2df4c436aae Cleveland's Biggest Star with the Puppets http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_clevelands-biggest-star-puppets Thu, 10 Jan 2013 16:09:00 GMT
Earlier this year Sir CC and I had the chance to work with local celebrity and comedy icon Mike Polk.

Icon? Celebrity? You ask sarcastically? Frankly, yes. Mike is a big deal. He told me all about it in the green room before we shot this puppet video. With popular YouTube videos amassing well over 25 million views on YouTube, Mike Polk's comedy is big.

Actually I was a lot of fun to shoot with Mike, who is as funny off camera as he is on the camera. He is a huge lifelong Cavs fan, so he can talk hoops for hours....and he knows his Cavaliers.

While our video (which was a fun way to promote the popular Anderson Varejao wig night) doesn't have millions of hits yet (I mostly blame CC for that), it stands out as my favorite episode so far.

I can admit that we plotted out the script before-hand, none of us were expecting a shirtless Polk for the final "He'll do anything!" kicker....that's just what he does.

Actually he forgot his shirt after the shoot and drove home like that too. That's so "Mike".

Don't be surprised to see Mike back with the puppets, he has agreed to stop back in again sometime...which would be great. It never hurts to work with a huge talented star....just ask Sir CC.

--Moondog
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:c1159c86-19e8-47f4-ab23-d0c59cab5605 Ask a Puppet http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_ask-puppet-1 Tue, 22 May 2012 15:27:00 GMT
With the offseason upon us, Moondog and I are realizing that we miss the constant interaction we have with you, the fans. We believe we have found a way around this problem, though, and it starts with you. Starting today, we are asking our beloved Cavs fans to send us their questions, ranging from “How do you think the Cavs will be next year?”, to “If you had to pick one item to have with you on a deserted island, what would it be?” (I’d bring duct tape by the way). One request, please no questions about Scully the Seagull; I don't know what that bird is up to now a days.

Some of you may be thinking, “What’s in it for me?” Well let me answer that for you; T-SHIRTS!!! You read that correctly, if your question is chosen and answered by the wonderful puppets, we will send you a t-shirt for your hard work.

We will be accepting questions for the next week, so start sending them now! To reach me, you can send questions to any of the following:

E-mail - sircc@cavs.com

Twitter - @cavssircc

Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/Cavs.Sir.CC

We look forward to hearing from the best fans in the NBA. Take care!
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:d5fe8b72-1158-4020-9fe0-0b948f8a8883 Ask a Puppet? It was my first time being beyond US territory and I could not have felt more welcomed and comfortable. From the people that we were working with to the people that we met on the street, everyone was so nice and excited for us to be a part of this event. This atmosphere alone made the trip wonderful. Being granted the opportunity to share our love of dance with the people of another country was another aspect that was worthwhile. I could tell that the locals were excited by our performance and enjoyed it. This made me feel accomplished and lucky. We were privileged to meet a fellow NBA team; the Rim Rockers dunk team from Milwaukee. It was so interesting to see how other teams run their performances and interact with the crowd. It was nice to share our various experiences with each other. The dinners that they set up for us were amazing! We got to see a Mariachi band and traditional Mexican dancers at dinner our first night. Every restaurant we went to was top of the line and had amazing food that we don't get the opportunity to try in the states. This opportunity helped me grow and learn so much. I could go on for an hour about how even the little things that happened in Guadalajara were wonderful. Overall, I feel blessed.

-Jenna

Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:f1e7bc4b-689e-412c-a5a5-64382bc6c5b5 NBA Jam Festival - Kori http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_nba-jam-festival-kori Wed, 26 Oct 2011 20:14:00 GMT
My experience during the Cavalier Girls trip to Guadalajara was one that will always be etched in my mind and my heart for numerous reasons. Outside of the fact that I was given the honor to dance and perform like I love to do, I was given the honor to represent my country, my dance team and the Cavaliers organization. During our short stay, I got to know and meet the most amazing people. Not only were the people of Guadalajara so welcoming and nice, but all of the peopl from the NBA were more than wonderful to work with. They made me feel like I was special. Everyone knew me by my name, and they protected & watched over me as if I was a part of their very own family. I had no worries and felt nothing but happiness my entire trip. This was an experience of a lifetime. Getting this small taste of the Mexican culture has made me want to learn more about the language, food & even visit on my own time as soon as I get the opportunity to. Words can't express how truly thankful I am to have been blessed with this opportunity. I thank everyone who made this possible, I would have never done any of this without you all! The entire trip was more then I could've ever imagined or dreamed of!

Thank you again,

Kori!
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:e4d5a7c2-59a6-4d75-b327-f8fcbc7e0d84 NBA Jam Festival - Elise http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_nba-jam-festival-elise Wed, 26 Oct 2011 20:12:00 GMT
Hey Cavalier fans!

Last weekend I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Guadalajara, Mexico for the Sprite NBA Jam Fest with 5 teammates and my coach. We were up and at'em early Saturday morning heading to Dallas and then to Mexico.

When we arrived to Mexico, we were greeted by our wonderful translator, Lorana, and our security guards. After a long day of traveling we had an amazing meal and got ready to do some interviews with local media. When we were done with that we went out to a true Mexican restaurant where they had mariachi bands and performers!

The next morning, after less than 3 hours of sleep, we were up practicing and fueling up on my favorite, Starbucks, for our performances later in the day. As we arrived at the Jam Fest we instantly felt like celebrities. The fans were so excited to see us, get our autographs and take pictures with us. We performed several times and met with a lot of fans. It was such an amazing experience that words truly cannot describe.

After the Jam fest we went out to eat with the Milwaukee "Rim Rockers", Cedric Ceballos, and some of the employees of the NBA international. It was a great way to end our quick trip to Mexico.

I am still so excited about the experience and opportunity I had by going to Mexico. It truly was beautiful and amazing and I am so incredibly blessed and thankful for the invaluable experience I had while in Guadalajara last weekend.

-Elise
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:abc99f25-b697-4dd3-bdda-578b92cdbbf3 NBA Jam Festival - Virginia http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_nba-jam-festival-virginia Wed, 26 Oct 2011 20:10:00 GMT
The time I spent in Guadalajara, Mexico, although short, is something I am going to cherish for the rest of my life. This was the first time I have ever been to Mexico and I had a tremendous time. I'll start off by saying that everyone we met in Guadalajara, including our wonderful translator and security, was extremely kind and welcoming. Not to mention they were extremely fun to be around! From the moment we got off the plane the staff that accompanied us wanted to make sure we were as comfortable and safe as possible. The people of Guadalajara seemed like they genuinely wanted to know about us and were very excited to have us there. That excitement made us even more excited than we already were to perform and represent the NBA and our city for the people of Guadalajara.

Second only to the amazing people we met was the amazing food that we got to experience. This was the first time I got to eat true, authentic Mexican food and it was awesome! Everything was so fresh and flavorful, I wished I could bring a little of it home with me! I ate the hottest pepper I've ever had in my life that made my eyes and nose tear! I guess it's all part of the experience, though!

The city of Guadalajara itself was beautiful place full of different types of shops, restaurants, artwork, and architecture. Since we were so busy, most of the sights we saw were from a bus window. I only wish we would have been able to spend a more time there to really take in all the sights and sounds that Guadalajara has to offer. If I ever get the opportunity, I would love to revisit Guadalajara to experience more of this great place that has given me so many great experiences. The trip was truly invaluable to me and I will never forget it! It was an honor to represent my city, my country, and the NBA as a Cleveland Cavalier girl and I cannot thank everyone involved enough for making that possible for me!

-Virginia
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:fc595ca7-516d-456f-abd1-3a36a7a78360 NBA Jam Festival - Kaela http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_nba-jam-festival-kaela Wed, 26 Oct 2011 20:08:00 GMT
My experience in Mexico was unbelievable. From the food to the people, everything was great. When we first got there we were welcomed by security, who were amazing and were with us at all times. We also met with our translator,Lorania, who did a great job and was as sweet as could be. The people of Guadalajara were great! They loved our performances and loved the autographed pictures! We received an authentic doll called a Maria for coming and performing. They are amazing!. All in all the trip was a chance of a lifetime, and I was so greatful I got to go. Hopefully I'll have more opportunities to have more great experiences.

-Kaela
Blog:048e63df-7257-42aa-ad0e-2dcfd88e857cPost:e5dfa01e-55f2-4f6e-8eeb-3a1a2225de3f Moondog Section at the Lake Erie Monsters Game http://www.cavfanatic.com/blogs/showtime/_moondog-section-lake-erie-monsters-game Wed, 19 Oct 2011 20:34:00 GMT Can't wait any longer? Me neither.

I am busting at the seems to get back under the bright lights and loud noises at the Q, so I have reserved a special section at an upcoming Lake Erie Monsters Game...and you can join me. As you can see from this photo from last year, I am kind of a big deal at the Monster's games.

Saturday Night November 19th, 2011, puck drops at 7:30 against the hated Peoria Rivermen and I will be there cheering for the Monsters in my own special section.

Join me for a great night of hockey in a special section with an AWESOME price.

The fun will be in section 111 for just $12 a ticket (regular price is $22).
